What We Do |
 |
- M.A.S.S. F.I.L.C. holds monthly meetings
to share new filksongs, sing old ones, and get together with other
filkers. Meetings are open to all; musicians and listeners are equally
welcome. Meeting locations vary, but are usually in eastern
Massachusetts.
- M.A.S.S. F.I.L.C. publishes songbooks
and T-shirts, which
may be ordered from us or from various filk dealers.
- M.A.S.S. F.I.L.C. has five times (1992, 1995, 1999, 2003, and 2006) hosted
NEFilk, the roving east coast
science fiction folk festival.
This festival rotates
between cities along the eastern seaboard. When M.A.S.S. F.I.L.C. is
the organizer, the event is called Concertino.
The next ConCertino will be in 2009.
Typically, there will be concerts, workshops, jam sessions, and singing all
day and late into the night.
- M.A.S.S. F.I.L.C. assists area science fiction
conventions that wish to have filk activities including workshops,
concerts and featured performers.
- M.A.S.S. F.I.L.C. provides manpower, expertise, and financial
assistance to help other regional filk
organizations host music festivals and other activities.
- M.A.S.S. F.I.L.C. provided assistance for the production
of The Filkado,
a fannish Gilbert and Sullivan musical performed at
Noreascon 4 and Arisia.
